Dear ,
Thank you for your pledge towards my World Vision
Ironman effort.
You'll be pleased to hear that after just over twelve and a half hours on
Sunday the 4th of April, I heard the magic words "James
Fenner, you are an Ironman" over the tannoy.
It was a tough day at the office, and there were certain parts of it that
really stood out:
-
Treading water at the swim start (with no wetsuit), with helicopters hovering
overhead, and the National Anthem playing, thinking "What on earth have I got
myself into here!"
-
The sheer joy of getting out of the water and seeing "Team Fez" when I got to
my bike.
-
Realising that I'd taken on too much salt water on the swim, and being sick
whilst on the bike after three hours of hard riding.
-
Getting off the bike and into transition and realising that after 7hrs and
22minutes, I still had my first marathon to run!
-
Night falling and having to put on glow sticks so that I didn't get run over by
passing traffic...
